Dr Timothy Kazuo Steains is mixed race Okinawan Australian and a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Gender and Cultural Studies at the University of Sydney. He is part of the Affirmative Feminist Boys Studies research team connected to the ARC SRI awarded research project 'Australian Boys: Beyond the Boy Problem'. His research examines the gendered and racialised dynamics of mixed race Asian Australian boyhoods. He is broadly interested in Asian Australian studies, mixed-race studies, and cultural studies of whisky.
